Dear CCDP Graduate Institute,
We write to introduce OCM. This is a brand new invention, from Scotland.
The CCDP had a massively important part in the process.
OCM = Online Charter Methodology
On proviso that democratic acceptance is evidenced, the process can peacefully resolve mass conflict, in any computer-literate society.
The process allows the precise measurement of scale and will, within any forward-thinking YES movement. In this modern era, there is no finer method of establishing and defining a population’s democratic will.
Whilst the accumulating online vote only calls for YES votes, the No side is always fully recognised, as every non-vote is always counted as a No vote.
The process has roots within and around the 2014 Referendum on Scotland’s Independence, a process which completely divided Scotland’s population, and began a debate which rages to this day, and which continues to worsen.
With a current status of deep confusion, and stuck in a mix of a potential further Referendum, or a government-enforced Unilateral Declaration of Independence, OCM offers a calm and peaceful way to proceed.
As and when Scotland does become Independent, OCM would enable a re-connection of Scotland’s divided internal population, as the matter would have been fully and properly democratically settled.
As a further aspect, OCM would then enable greater fraternity between UK nations, as Scotland’s debate would be peacefully resolved with Westminster’s English Government, resolving the issues between Scotland and the rest of the UK.
On these terms OCM can promote and deliver peaceful congresses, and can act as an ambitious forum to carry out dispute resolution in international affairs, and prevent wars.
Scotland’s 2014 Referendum process was archaic, questionable, and untrustworthy.
OCM replaces that undignified Referendum process with brand new methodology which befits and dignifies the question being asked, using modern technology to enable the population’s integrity and trust.
Furthermore, it also replaces very significant previous costs, with accessible and reasonable costs. As an example, Scotland’s Referendum cost £15.85 million pounds. OCM on the other hand is simply enabled via the creation of a web site with relevant server capacity.
Many of Scotland’s voters placed their votes without an underpinning substance of actually even knowing what they were voting for. This was caused by a government failure to properly ensure that every single citizen received the relevant ‘White Paper’ support documentation. OCM resolves this via a compulsory voter download.
The OCM originator firstly took the concept to social media. It was immediately adored by the YES side, and it was also immediately accepted and embraced by the No side. The detail of the methodology was then refined via a niche Twitter feed, as a creative and involving process, an end product of the people themselves.
The evolution of the process was rooted in mathematics, statistics, demographics, and analytics. Scotland’s academic elite were asked to refine the process, if able to do so. To date, no refinements have been suggested.
The OCM originator pushed many boundaries of human behaviour, seeking to incorporate holistic inclusiveness, and a conclusion which can be properly celebrated, on the proviso that there is of course an established majority.
At each and every step on the journey, the originator sought simply to embrace humanity’s very best values, and fully apply those to modern era democracy, and modern era thinking.
As part of the originator’s journey, there was a definitive moment during 2015 on the steps of The CCDP Geneva Graduate Institute, The Centre on Conflict, Development & Peacebuilding. It occurred as ‘a lightbulb moment’, that whilst OCM had been created and designed to assist with Scotland’s circumstances, the methodology could of course be used elsewhere, in any situation which involves mass conflict, computer literacy, and society’s acceptance of established democratic will.
There was a recognition, to use some wording taken from CCDP themselves, ‘streams are inherently connected, consciously framed in such a way as to maximise disciplinary and methodological collaboration across them’.
Whilst it still remains to be seen if Scotland’s Nationalist politicians have the desire to properly measure the will of Scotland’s people or not, OCM can now be freely used elsewhere.
There are numerous online articles penned by the originator. These sit today with absolutely flawless reader records, not a single unkind word. (access via http://www.yesdayscotland.wordpress.com)
OCM has clearly been enabled to ensure that truth and love will prevail over hate and lies.
As is frequently the case with new inventions, OCM has devastating simplicity.
How OCM works:
- Define the question being asked
- Enable online access via verifiable means
- Voter registration
- Compulsory White Paper download
- Accumulator records incoming votes
- Votes are visible, and archive-accessible for eternity
- Certification for voters
- Voter ability to digitally share Certificate, imagery and comments
- Tailored conclusions, eg Merchandise and Charitable donations
As well as peacefully resolving mass conflict, OCM can of course also be applied to generalities of decision-making.
- a country’s General Elections
- a country’s ongoing ability to have population-led decisions and involvement on the dynamics of evolving policies
- University decisions
- Corporate decision-making
We hope that OCM can help to bring peace and harmony elsewhere in the world.
If ever relevant please don’t hesitate to pass on our information.
The OCM originator is visiting Geneva again in Spring 2016, and offers to meet any CCDP representative for further discussions. Perhaps dinner in The Beau Rivage!
We congratulate CCDP on the simply incredible work of your organisation.
We convey our kindest regards from Scotland,
